Hullo,I'm new here
Well hallo there!!
Myself and the hubster are currently applying independently for Skilled Permanent Migration to Oz. Didn't want to be sponsored by anyone or any company as we wanted to be independent out there and not tied to a job.
I've already lived out there twice so I know sort of what to expect.
But - I havent applied for emmigration before and have a few queeries.
1. I'm 34 and was diagnosed with breast cancer over 2 years ago. Can they refuse me on the grounds that I "may be a drain on health resources". I haven't had a reoccurance since diagnosis and I'm currently well.
2. How long does it take to get the big "ok, your in" once you've sent in your application. Bearing in mind we're applying for skilled permanent residency.
Think this'll do for now although I've got hunners and hunners of questions I'll no doubt bug you with sooner than later.
Cheers,
*pearly*

Hi Pearly,
Ignore Steve he thinks he's funny (which of course he is, but don't tell him )
Can't really help with the health question, best speaking to an agent who specialises in health cases. Our application took 17 months from start to finish, however a lot of that was taken up getting the skills assessment.

Did you just say A YEAR?
*£"!!!***%%$!!!! I had no idea it would take us that long. How come?
All Im waiting for is for 2 police checks to come back and for both our skills assessments to be sent off then returned to us. Once I've got the police checks back I'm sending in my application as you don't have to have the skills assesment in your possession to apply - just need some number which is reciept of your skills assessment application, then that goes on the emmigration application form.
THEN we'll go for our medicals when they tell us to.
Will all that take us a year?????
OH NO - Do I need to pour another glass of wine to help ease the shock??
Please advise.

took us 6 months from sending the main application in, you can see our timeline on my profile if you want to look.
We are going State sponsered but it is still a permenant residency visa.
good luck
