I guess it all depends what your skill is! I have found the www.nsw.gov.au website recently, they have a great deal of gov. employment - eg. I am in tourism development and it seems really good. Job descriptions are great too, and i will definitly get inspired by them to write my cover letter! Definitly worth checking out a few job descriptions there.
Othersiwe i recomment careers.com.au or seek, and then some specialised agencies in your field!
good luck

What type of work do you want and in what field? If its IT or finance I'd go with a specialist agency. Otherwise seek.com.au as mentioned is quite good. Hays, Hudson and Adecco are all good agencys.

The Sydney Morning Herald, Australian and Daily Telegraph are all good sources. From memory I think Wednesday, Friday and Saturday's editions are best.

When I arrived I was advised only to sign up with a couple of agencys- hayes & hudson (civils & IT) . Apparenly the smaller agencies may submit your cv to any job even if you havent expressed any interest in a career change ! (think that this was B***S**T but i didnt fancy spending hours on a train to attend an interview that wasnt suitable)
I also set up e-mail alerts with seek, carreerone & mycareer.com.au. It took a few weeks before I eventualy found something but it did save on not buying papers on a weekly basis to see the same old adverts !

PS I think I dropped a clanger in not getting my experience in the highway/Asset industry (15 Years !) offically recongnised as I dont have a degree ! Vic roads wouldnt even interview me as I couldnt join the Inst of Aus engs regardless of the fact that I was the cause of hours of traffic jams on the m25 !
