Default How quickly did you go home for a trip?

We were chatting last night and wondering when most people headed back to the UK for their first trip home once they had emigrated!?!?!

We been thinking about June next year (whcih means we will of been here for about a year and a half then), but it is so expensive i dont want to go but OH does!!

I've been here coming on for 3 years and haven't been back to the UK yet. However, I now consider this my home.

We've been here two years and are thinking maybe perhaps visiting in Jan 09 but hubby doesn't want to, I'm not sure, tiddler isn't bothered either way and first born really wants to go and see old mates. If you consider the UK to be home, the pull will be stronger.

If you go, do you both have to go? Can't you send OH on their own? We were considering me taking the kids for a visit and leaving hubby here but I keep thinking what we could do with the huge amount of money instead

Snap (except I've only been here a year and half. )

The UK to me is somewhere I used to live, I have no intention of going there ever again. They'd have to deport me from Australia first and even then I'd probably go somewhere else.

Probably next October to see my Dad before he dies. Other than that, I have no desire to go back. Like Shakmaty said, I consider this my home now.

It was about 3 years for us for the first trip - to show off the new grandchild. In those days we didnt have the $$$ for frequent trips but now I go every year and next year I will be going home twice.

I think that's the only thing telling me to go visit. No one is showing any interest in coming to visit us and I think we should go see the olds before they pop their clogs

Been here 19 months so far and no plans to head back for a trip anytime soon (or in the next 12 months for that matter!). It would be nice to see everyone but I would really begrudge spending all that money to head to cold rainy weather when we could do so much more with it here

Same here, been here now for 13 months and we have no plans to go back to the UK. Home is OZ so I go home everyday :-))

If people from the UK can't be arsed to come and see you why would you bother going back to see them?

Spend your money on something more worthwhile like a holiday to Thailand or Fiji

First trip back was after three years.
Then again after another three years.
Then a five year gap (too busy having babies).
Then a six year gap (got one in before the kids were adult air-fares)
Then a NINE year gap (kids at High School - paid school fees instead of airfares).

I'm in no hurry at all to do another one.
