How much money am I allowed to bring (in chash or travellers)
Hello all,
Is there any restrictions about the amount that I can bring with me? I was thinking about to buy some traveller checks (AU$30k) and deposit them when I open the account. Will the bank accept that amout or there are some restrictions?

Travellers cheques are unlimited however when cashed austrac will be notified. Austrac are also notified of telegraphic transfers over 10,000.
For cash you must declare amounts over 10,000.
Austrac are an agency which helps fight money laundering and tax evasion.

I don't believe their is a limit for cash or TC.
BUT if the total is over $A10,000 you must declare it at Oz customs and fill in a form and then they let you through with the money.
