OK, you Perth mining boom experts. My pal at the Uni reckon's his son earns over $100 grand cleaning camp site accommodation.

People frequently talk of $100k plus for even basic mine jobs.

I've Googled the job ads for dumptruck drivers and all I get is $$$ and not real figures.

My friend is doing a 6 month traineeship where they pay $80 grand pro rata package - which will include the compulsory super contributions.

Anyone know what a dump truck driver can earn on the mines?

Hey I would be keen to hear this too ....

My hubby is a driver and would be good to know how much per hour also - as you usually have to work all hours to get decent wage.

Any idea where the closest jobs would be for him tho Renth - we are in Canberra.

I should imagine with FIFO there are people from all over Aus flying in to Perth to catch their planes out to the mines in woop woop. My colleague's friend lives in Adelaide and flies in to Perth every 2 weeks to fly to out to their mine.

A friend of a friend who works in the mines told my Hubby that if he worked there as a mechanic he would earn around $110 grand. We did consider it but the heat would probably kill us.

I reckon that sounds a bit low for a spanners on the mines in WA. Especially if my mate's son is getting $100 for cleaning bogs.

I think it will be about $60k starting out and rising from there. I'm sure there will be overtime as well.

In my last spell at Rio I was lucky enough to get a site trip to Tom Price. When we were there we did a tourist coach tour into the site and the driver / guide said that you would start on $70k+ but once you had got all your licences and worked up to the big trucks and if you worked unpopular shifts etc you could get over $100k. If you choose to live locally you also get subsidised housing and utilities etc worth another $10K or so.
