Its $10,000 aussie dollars or equivalent, but I don't suggest you bring that much in cash.... If you are here for a while open a bank account and put money in there... we did when we were backpacking

You can bring $10,000 without declaring it but declare larger amounts allthough theres no limit to how much you bring into oz. They just want to have a look at you to make a decision as to weather youre a money launderer
