How many hours do you work?
I've heard some people say they work less hours in Oz than in the UK and others saying they work way more in Oz so I was curious what the 'average' is.
So please tell us whether you are currently in UK or OZ and what hours you work, on average. I reckon I do about 45 hours (contracted to 37½) |
Re: How many hours do you work?
Just voted for hubby, he does 60 in an average week, he's self employed plasterer, i on the other hand do 35 hours a week, part time administrator
kind regards Rach x |
Hiya,
I have voted for myself. I am actually in school for approximately 45 hours a week but then on top of that I bring home marking, planning and in the next few weeks have 28 reports to write. I guess I average around 50 hours per week. I also do work during the holidays and often go into school to get things ready for the next term, just in case you are thinking "well you do have alot of holidays". Regards Sarah |

No category for me as I've retired early:D
For the past few years I worked 20 hours per week in the NHS. I plan to work about the same in Australia if I work. I do , however, have other income and assets;) G |
In the UK I did shifts, 7.5 hours a day, 5 day week, here I'm expected to do at least an 8 hour day, usually 8.5 because they always start a meeting at 5pm, and if you say you want to leave they give you a really odd look as if they can't believe you'd rather go home! Might just be where I am working, but they also think I'm weird cos I would rather go out at lunchtime and shop or have a beer, instead of sitting in the "lunchroom" taling about work with a bunch of boring gits!!! Pay is much less too. Takes a bit of adjusting too, I can tell you.

I was on a 35 hour week with over 25 days holiday in the UK. Here I am on a 40 hour week with 20 days holiday.

There's nowhere for me to vote.:( I'm in the US. I work 43 hours per week. I have been here at my current job 12 years and get 10 days holiday!!! My hubby works about 40-45 hours per week. Payed holiday really stinks here!

In the UK we both worked 36 hr weeks and it took 15mins to get to work me walking hubby in car.
Here we both work 38hr weeks however it takes me 1 hr to drive to work and hubby currently 1hr 45mins to get to work (car/train). We are moving in the next week or so and then hubby will be 1hr 10 min from work and I will be 30 min drive. Driving is so much easier here than UK though as much less traffic on the roads in comparison. Jo |
I work 22 hours a week as opposed to 15 in the uk, I earn slightly less per hour but pick up more due to various allowances (nurse). Husband works the same hours for slightly more than he earnt in the uk (printer), the bonus here is that he only works mon-thurs, giving us a long weekend every week.

None of your categories apply. I'm in the US and currently do 57-60 hours a week. Don't have to, but the overtime $$$ is there to be had.

Voted for myself. I work 8.5 hours a day but half an hour of that goes towards one RDO a month. I like doing over-time but thers's no opportunity here to do so.
