Unhappy How long are MEDICALS valid for?

Hi all,

We had our medicals done in June 01, our aplication was registered in Aug 01 and still heard nothing!.

I'm sure the documents insisted sending everything in one go to speed it all up. These medicals as you probably know are not cheap.

Are they likely to ask us to do them again?. If they do is this a good sign that eveything else is OK, or do they not look at the rest of the application until they have this?.

thanks in advance.

Hi, medicals valid officially for 12 months. We were told verbally by AHC they would extend their validity to 2 years due to the backlog. With the backlog being send to adelaide, I think this may be thrown into doubt, so best to plan to be told to get them updated/done again.

I wondered whether a doctors certificate/letter saying you had not visited them with any serious medical conditions might suffice. Any one heard of that happening?

Regards
Mash..

Medicals are not asked for in advance. Some people insist on doing
them in advance, which means there's a high risk of having to do them
again.

The original poster didn't mention what subclass he/she was applying for, so it's likely that it wasn't a spouse or skilled onshore overseas student visa.

The skilled onshore overseas student visa does require the applicant to submit police and medical checks together with their visa applications, though.

Peter
I presumed that it wasn't an onshore student skilled visa.
You are quite right.

Jeremy,

Like I said, judging from the original poster's timeline, it's unlikely that it was an skilled onshore overseas student application.

Hi All,

Thanks for your comments.

We are applying through the "Skilled regional Sponsored" category (not points tested).

I may be wrong, but I could of sworn their was additional notes with the forms suggesting EVERYTHING be included with the application. We wouldnt have done them when we did otherwise???.

Will they check everything else is looking good prior to asking us to do these again?. I wouldnt be too happy doing these again only to get refused????.

How did you get hold of the forms for medicals? They are on special
forms that are not included in the application package.

Can't speak for the original poster but I managed to get a set sent to me by the surprisingly helpful (but out-of-jurisdiction) AHC in London - via airmail to my post box!

The AHC in Singapore had none of it when I asked them if they could be humour me and send me a set, though.
