How long to get into a rental ?
Once you have found a long term rental property that is "available now" how long does it normaly take before you can move into it ?
We are booking some short term holiday rental and don't know how long to book for.
Thanks.

Re: How long to get into a rental ?
this will depend on aspects like how quick the agent can process the application, whether the owner is available to give it the ok etc. but it's in their interest too to make it as quick as possible
in theory this could all be done in the same day, but i'd expect a couple of days to be on the safe side

to me the term available now would mean the place is empty and you can expect to move in once accepted and all the paperwork completed

Be prepared tho... for a lot of trekking about and looking at houses with lots of other people, then putting the paperwork in and not hearing from the agent for a good couple of days, only then to be told that you haven't got the house.... it's a bloody nightmare!!!!

what areas are you looking for or are you just waiting on till you get there. Do you have jobs or anything yet.

We have a dog & cat so rental choice will be more limited, we will look at and apply for a few within an hour of work and hope we get accepted somewhere.
OH will look for job once we have settled a bit.
What about you where you looking, any jobs yet ?

Hi, Yes I have a job in Mount Gravatt still not sure where we are going to rent yet but expect it will be either Brisbane southside or Northern GC.

We arrived in Brisbane last Wednesday. Spotted a few properties to view on Thursday and arranged viewings on the Friday. We liked the second place we visited on Friday, applied straight away and picked up the keys late Friday afternoon. No Worries!

Blimey ... you were lucky!! We've had a nightmare on the S/C ... the last time we moved I viewed a house with about 40 other people.... the road was full of cars and people all viewing one house!!! madness! But we're sorted now, hoorah!

ask the people in Queensland now for some web addresses and look up their rental sections and do a bit of homework now especially if your rental doesnt have a computer for your use, it will give you a good base to start, you will have agents addresses and phone numbers on hand and if a property is still up for rental when you get there in over a month there may be a reason....hope this is of some use. Re: Fully Furnished rentals Mount Gravatt
Hi All,
We are arriving in Brisbane 13th June and are hoping to have contact with an renting agent/company before we leave.
We have been told to look for rental property in Mount Gravatt as this is a suburb close to the area my partner has been offered a job.
We are looking for fully furnished 2 bedroom accommodation as we do not want to be buying furniture when we arrive.
Our budget is upto $350 per week max, is this unrealistic? We really don't want to stay in shared/students accommodation which seems to be the cheapest option.
We are travelling on a 12 month working holiday visa whilst our main 457 visa carries on and is hopefully granted within the 12 months - IF THE TRA GET THEIR ACT TOGETHER!!!
Any advise would be much appreciated
Thanks All.

Re: How long to get into a rental ?
I went to an inspection this week and there were 21 other people there...one couple turned up in a BMW carrying laptops and $300 haircuts so I realised at that point that it's gonna be really hard to get anywhere.
Applied for maybe five places now and each one has had over 15 other applicants. It's not fun.
