How long did it take from the first forms you submitted to the time you were actually granted residency in aussie?

Thanks

Tottefan.

It took us around 8 months from start of preparation to visa grant for our skilled independent visa, including 2 skills assessments then a delay as DIMIA had lost some of our papers.

I think a lot depends on your skills assessment authority (ours was ACS Group A & B which I think are a lot quicker that TRA in both preparation and assessment time). It also took quite a while for us to get some references as my other half needed 6 years work experience references for his skills assessment and some companies had changed staff, locations etc.

The DIMIA processing system changed in July 2004 which meant that applications received after this date have been processed a lot faster that applications prior to this date.

Depends what visa you are applying for and whether you are on the MODL list of occupations? Different types of visa take different amount of times.

Have you looked on www.austimeline.com ?

I applied for a 136 skilled independant visa, non MODL, look at my time line below.

cheers
