Default How long does it take ?

I'm curious to know how long it takes for a visa application to be completed once it's sent off.
Emigration is a big massive daunting prospect, and I'd like to know other people experiences.
We have a house in the East End of London which we can probably comfortably rent out and cover our mortgage.
Do we do that, or do we sell up ?
How much does the visa application cost ?
How long do the Australian authorities give you to move out there once your application is completed ?
Has onyone had an application rejected ? And why ?
s may questions I know...I'm sorry, but my wife and I are just starting to take the big step towards moving our lives to Sydney.
Thanks
Griff

I think it's going to be a sponsored skilled persons visa...my wife's sister is a permanent resident in Queensland, and I'm a database analyst (60 points apparently !)

hi welcome to the madhouse.

Firstly, have a good luck on the FAQ page, its really good and gives you a good insight for your questions. Also, as someone else said, register at Aussie Timeline.

We have just completed the process and also applied under General skilled sponsored. If you include the skills assessment then it took about 11 months, however, if you just take the application then we sent it in July and got it approved on 8th April, however we did do our meds and police checks unrequested after about 6 moths through the process.

Hope this helps.

Good luck, eveything comes to those who wait.......and boy do you wait !!
