on average how long does it take once you have done ur tax return?

Four weeks for me, but I've only submitted the year before's. Got a cheque for $0.95 as I only worked a week of the last financial year.... got a Rudd stimulus cheque soon after.

Umm the tax return I'm used to in the UK always involves me giving 100000s to the government....I'm not used to the sort of tax return where the government pays you!!!!!!!

Depends on the tax return ...
when I was a student they charged me 45$, I moved on into salary and a bit of interest and dividend they charged 55$.
Today, I have salary, ABN, capital gains/loss (shares) etc they charged me 75$....
