How long does baggage really take to ship?
Hi. I'm getting advised it takes 6-12 weeks to ship belongings from UK to Australia. I'm heading for Melbourne. Are there any views whether this is generally closer to 6 weeks or to 12 weeks? It's a wide range. Thanks

We had a shared container. Took 12 weeks to Perth.

We're using Excess Baggage Company as renting out our house as furnished. Perhaps best to assume it will take 12 weeks and anything shorter is a bonus :)

Ready for a horror story.....:eek::eek: We we're told 55 days port to port..... however, the container was taken from Tilbury to Rotterdam, where it was off loaded and sat on the docks for about 20 days! It then went via America and the Panama Canal, South Pacific Islands, New Zealand, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide before finally getting to Perth. We left 5th Jan, container arrived 5th April. I guess we were unlucky as it was the actually shipping company who changed the route of the container and not the fault of the removal company, so can't blame them too much. They gave us £100 as a good will gesture when I complained about the delay. We used F&N International and cost £3,200 for a sole use 20ft container. Neil. |

Mine left for the port on October 16th, arrived in Brisbane Christmas Eve, then sat in Customs here for 6 weeks cos of the Christmas shutdown/go-slow/can't be bothered period.

My last container shipment took 5 weeks Felixtowe to Sydney and then 6 weeks on the dockside waiting for customs to get their act together.

Re: How long does baggage really take to ship?
Our stuff left the UK house on the 14th October and landed in Brissie on the 14th December, delivered to the Aus house on the 21st December. It depends on container company, shipping company, weather conditions, shipping route, time of year :blah::blah::blah::D

Mine was 9 weeks door to door.

Re: How long does baggage really take to ship?
I`m sure we were told 9 weeks and thats exactly what it took door to door. UK to Brisbane. But you are warned things can change( I presume hence 6 -12 weeks in your case).
