Hi Folks,

I live in Sydney and require a police certificate for my PR application. My wife will also be on the same application form as me, does this mean we need to get her one as well ?

Do I have to write to NSY for an application form !? or do they have a website I can download the application form from ? or can I deal with the Sydney British Consulate ?

How have people who have gone about this done it from Australia ?

Thanks for any help provided.

Dave.

And here's a Met Police number you can call if you have any queries: +44 20 7230 4143

I think you have to lodge your application through the police force in the area in
the UK where you have resided, so you may have to follow one of the links on the link
in my previous post to get to the one that is relevant to you (given that you didn't
live in the Met Police area).

Thanks again Allan,

I DID live in the Met area, in fact I have lived all over the place in the UK. Do you know if this means I have to get a police cert. from where ever I have lived in the UK for more than a year in the last 10 years ?

No, you need only one police cert from the UK. I believe the search is carried out on
the one central police computer, and it seems that simply for admin reasons you have
to submit the request for information through the Force operating in the area where
you were/are living.

If you now live abroad, from recent experience the Met are happy enough for you to apply for the police cert to them directly (ie to New Scotland Yard). Ie don't worry about applying to the district where you lived before moving abroad (as they will in any case send it to New Scotland Yard) and the cert will cover the whole country.
