Default How to find good primary schools

Hi,

I am moving to Perth but am very undecided about where to stay, although it will have to be commutable to Perth CBD.

What is the best way to find out which schools are perceived to be good ones? Are there league tables to look at?

Any advice would be good. I am interested in both state and private schools.

A good start would be www.ausiemove.com theres a link to Perth schools if you click on the map.

I worked out from the aussiemove website, that there's about 250 suburbs in Perth. That means that there will probably be a heap more primary schools, so GOOD LUCK!

Oh, and most of them are commutable, but that also depends on your definition of commutable!!

Hi ,new member here.
ocean reef is probably the best school in western aus.but you have to live in the catchment to get your kids in.contact them and they will send you a map of their catchment areas.
only prob is the area around the school is bloody expensive, but worth it to get the kids in at their schools.they have a primary and high school.
good luck.
p.s. there are lots to steer clear of so be real careful.

Have you been smoking crack or something?

Where do you get this golden nugget of information from?

Ocean Reef is not a bad primary school by any means, but it's certainly not that great.

There are no league tables out here so it really is word of mouth when choosing a school. Go and visit the schools and hang around outside at a few different times of the day to get a feel of the kids. It is always a worth watching how they really behave when their teachers are not glaring at them. You will soon see if it is full of unsavoury characters!

If you are strongly interested in the best schools for your kids then have a look at the private ones as well, if you can at all afford to. They are much popular out here and more parents choose them compared to in the UK.
