We are moving to Brisbane early in the new year and have obtained our TRA as an electrician. Once we arrive in Brisbane how do we obtain an electrical licence to work? Can we apply before we arrive?

You will see what a complete and utter nightmare the process is, hopefully you have done some research into this and i,m not letting you in for a big shock here?
Only read loads of posts on here from people who roll up in OZ expecting to work straight away and it just aint happening i,m afraid.
And its been made a little worse now by the fact that you have to do so many hours an log books etc as of January 09

a the holder of a tra as electrician you will need to apply for an artc in ordr to get your licence

and a current Australian CPR certificate by current less than 12 months old

as dougie has said previously i strongly suggest that you read the electricians
forum in order to know what is required in order to work as a sparkie in qld

Is it still possible for the new arrivals to get work as as a Trades Assistant, while working on getting the relevant Electrical licenses?

getting a TA is easy enough but that wont count against your log book as they are looking for electrical work and being a TA is mostley conduit and wire pulling
