How do you get medicals and police checks - silly question but please help
Hi
I knoe this is probably going to sound daft but I will ask anyway....am trying to be ultra organised and get everything possible can done for our visa appliucation (independent skilled) so was wondering how do you get police checks done? Who do you go to? Are there any forms I need to get? Also how do you get medicals done? Who needs to do them? Finally what do we need for our visa application - any references/forms etc.
Sorry if this is a daft question.
Thanks in advance

hi
just go to your local police station and get some forms to fill in for police checks
they need to see a birth certificate and something with your proof of address for each person included in your application
all people included have to have medicals also there is a panel of docs listed on dimia site just pick the one nearest to you phone up and book
everyone needs to fill the forms they are also on the dimia site also a passport photo for each persons form 1 for the medical form and 1 for the xray forms
hope this helps
good luck

the x-rays are done on top of clifton downs by the sus bridge and the meds are done in southville, you do the x-rays about a week before the meds, for 2 adults and 2 kids it is 300 pound all in really cheap compared to some,
however you have to be careful when you get them done that its not to early, you will have to validate your visa within 1 year of your meds or you will have to do them again so the meds and the x-rays are done last of all,
for the police checks phone your local cop shop ask them for a form again we did this just before the meds and x-rays
cheers steve

For the police checks,go down to your local police station and ask for a UK police check also known as a Police Clearance certificate. From memory this takes about 40days and costs £10 for each. If you have lived outside the UK for more than a 12 month period in another country then you will need one from that country as well although i don`t know how you would go about getting that one. When you get your police check back you can then send it off to the DIMIA (or your agent if you have one) along with Form 80 Character Assessment.
With the medical checks there is a list of approved doctors and radiologists on the DIMIA website for various areas.(Greater London,South East etc etc). Chose what doctors/radiologists you want(normally the nearest). For us in chichester they are at two separate sites. In the morning we are going to the hospital for our xrays in the "walk in" surgery. We must complete a form 160 Radiologist Examination Form before we go. We then go back at 1pm to pick up our xrays and take the form 160 along to the doctors later on that day. Only over sixteens need to have the xrays done.
At the doctors you take along a form26,Health Examination Form with the relevant parts completed. All members of family need a medical done but children dont need a blood test.
Hope this helps.
p.s.You also need to print off the "Instructions for Offshore Medical Examinations" and hand a copy to the doctor so they know where to send the stuff.
p.p.s Also take passport as id along with two passport photos.

Hi
If you are going to send your meds and PCC's early, wait until about two months after you've sent your visa application in before sending them
