Hi, I will be going to the brisbane area within the next two months.

I will be there maybe a month or so before my wife and kids. How do I go about getting them into schools. One is 15 and the other is 11.

It appears that you simply complete an enrolement pack/form - if it is a public school (gov). You should try and look at the different schools on the internet as a lot of schools have sites. I have been emailing the head master at a few school in Canberra and they have been really helpful.

do you have a rental agreed yet? if not, when you arrive go and look at a number of high schools and primaries and make a judgement as to which schools will meet your kids needs best.no end of other peoples recommendations about schools can beat your own feelings about what is right for your kids .then if you can, find a rental in the catchment area- not easy i know, given current shortage of decent family rentals anywhere.if you live in catchment area then application is easier- just fill in forms and start. out of area is more unpredictable although as you are moving in mid year there may places due to other kids moving out. i would suggest choosing a high school first then a feeder primary. good luck with your move

I think my order of priority is a bit like this:-

Find Job,
Find home within reach of job,
Find Schools within reach of home.
