Default Housing with dog

Hi again

We have a small dog and from reading we expect the costs of bringing her to be around £1000 (flight, quarantine etc)

One of my friends said that we'd really struggle to find a nice home to rent with a dog and that Australia is not as dog-friendly as Britain.

Any ideas on that?

Thx D_C

Pretty much, although there are places that are "pet friendly" rentals. Negotiate with the agencies, but ultimately the decision rests with the owners.

Hi We brought our dog over last year, and we discovered that most places were pet friendly even when not advertised. We were asked to submit a photo of him, not sure why, state his size. Also we were advised to mention he was an outdoor dog (little white lie).
What really swings you getting into a nice rental is offering a few months rent up front.

We came over with 4 dogs and initially went with a relocation agent that had housing in Jimboomba, near Brisbane and allowed dogs. Friends of ours came over with two medium sized dogs and found a new house to rent fairly quickly.

We now live semi rural and have brought a home but the paper is full of pet friendly rentals every week as previous poster said, ask and you'll find somewhere - certainly wouldn't have put us off bringing over our 'family'.

It depends on where you want to be. We noticed that a lot of places in central Perth would not allow dogs, but when we looked around Mandurah there was no problem

With a detached house it will be easier so look at those first if you can. Many townhouses/units have Body Corporate management structures which don't allow animals as a matter of course even if the owner/landlord will allow them.

You should be fine. When we came over and started looking at houses most were dog friendly and if they are not they usually say in the advert
