Size isn't everything you know.
Check out the Brown Recluse Spider between a quarter and half an inch long with quite a nasty bite.
Have a look at the bite pictures, but not if you're squeamish :scared:

for any acrachnaphobes looking at the above link, this spider is not found in Australia

If it was I would not be moving there, that's for sure!

Acute and recurrent skin ulceration after spider bite" , SJ Pincus, KD Winkel, GM Hawdon and SK Sutherland. MJA 1999 171(2):98-102.
A series of 15 cases of ulceration or necrosis following witnessed spider bite has recently been published by the Australian Venom Research Unit in the Medical Journal of Australia. (Full text version of the article archived here.) Fourteen of the cases presented were associated with white tailed spiders, and one with a black house spider. Nine cases involved recurrent ulceration at the bite site, previously undescribed in the literature. See the Necrotising Arachnidism page for more information.

Ok nice!!

I'll go get me dress.

Cheers

Susan

I've heard that about whitetails actually....and the necrotic cysts. Somewhat worrying as they were the only venomous spiders i saw in oz. Was there for 8 months and saw them about 20 -25 times around Adelaide and My Gambier. We woke one morning and found one on the ceiling above the bed......would have to be over MY side too lol!

Default off topic.......snakes

comforting seaside pictures

Photograph of the snake involved in the case
history and the child's foot, showing
multiple bite marks suggestive of severe
envenomation
