House buying and deposits
Hi All,
Just wondering whether you can buy a house, depositing say 40%, if you don't have permanent employment but do receive casual work as a teacher/
Thanks
ps it's bloody freezing here up in Newcastle so December can't come quick enough!

Should be okay but remember too include/factor in the additional costs of buying.

as long as he casual work is regular then you should be OK but with the way lending has tightened over the last couple of years I would get pre-approval from your lender prior to looking for a place

Re: House buying and deposits
We had about a 45% deposit and were both in probationary periods with our jobs. Bank (westpac)did not even ask if we were permanent/casual/full time, we just showed payslips and all was approved v.easily and quickly - was in July 2008 though - lending criteria is prob more stringent now.
