Default Hotels in Brisbane

We should be getting our visas soon (fingers crossed) and want to do an activation vist in October (over half term). If we book flight only do you think it will be easy to find a hotel. Do you think it will be cheaper to book a hotel before we leave or when we get there.

We got stung once going to Vegas, everyone said "don't book a hotel before you go - it works out soooooo much cheaper when you get there" Needless to say, we got there, and it was on the news that it was the busiest time Vegas had seen in years, there were loads of conventions on and we could either book into Circus Circus (which we did, and was crap - the main hotel was fully booked and we got stuck out near the parking lot for two nights before they had a spare room) or the Venetian which was mega money!!

Any advice greatly received.

Hi

There are hundreds of hotels in brisbane and october is spring over there so you should be ok. have a look online and email a few to see how their reservations are for october and that would give you a general idea whether it will be busy or not.

Be wary of availability of hotels in mid to late October - this is when the Indy Cars are in the Gold Coast - a lot of people come from interstate and it will push up both prices and availability.

Why a hotel??

You can get some very good short term rental deals in apartments.

We were in Brisbane the first two weeks in November 2006 and booked two weeks in the Manhaten Apartments at Newstead. They were only a 10 minute drive from the airport and were really nice. the manager John ferrier was very nice and gave lots of advice.

The price was $560 per week, but it depends on the season. It worked out at around $80 per night for a family of four. We struggled to get a hotel for that price.

If you want to look, they are here http://www.seqrents.com.au/man/index.htm

that is definitely a good deal, we stayed for 5 nights and it came out to $200 for a 2 bedroom serviced apartment....although it was in the city centre, i would gladly take the $80 option anytime

Hi, we came in jan, and stayed in Brisbane holiday village.they are chalets, it has a lovely pool, clean linen every week, air con, cafe/convenienc store, and all utility bills and for only $35 per week if you stay for four weeks, it is a bit more if you stay for less! but definately worth a look, we loved it and met some very nice poms along the way. Good luck Del n Pat

Thanks guys, will have search for all of them and have a look. We aren't really sure where the best place to stay is, whether to go for Goldcost or more central. We want somewhere which is going to make it easy to scope out local places to give us a headstart when we actually move over and don't have a clue where to go lol

This is a good website

www.asiarooms.com

around £40-£50 per night per room for 5*. Sometimes they are even cheaper though and if you were planning a stopover in malaysia the rooms are incredibly cheap
