Default hotels brisbane

Does anyone know of any hotels - not mega posh, that are closeish to the airport or city. Just for a few nights when we arrive?

Or, is it best to book when we book flights?

Cheers
Pott.

Try WOTIF.com for booking hotels in Brisbane. Excellent value if you book 14 days before going.

We found that the cabins at campsites were good value if you can cope with self-catering. There were some luxurious cabins for the same price as a good hotel room. Not sure about city centre though.

Try Need It Now.com.au - do a search for Brisbane - they have some very good deals on this site.

Hi Pott,

I suppose it also depends on your budget.

I wouldn't bother staying near the airport as it is a bit too remote - unless your sure the areas you want to look at are within easy reach of the Gateway Arterial Road (ie motorway).

We stayed at the Abbey Hotel in Roma Street (across from the Roma Street train station) when we first arrived in Jan 1999.

Reasonable hotel - the room was a studio appartment with a separate bedroom and living area. The kitchen was not a full kitchen though (small fridge and no stove - although we were able to borrow a small portable cooker from reception).

The location was the best feature as it was easy to go in any direction when viewing flats/houses and it was quick to get into the CBD.

In general, from after Easter to late November/early December you shouldn't have any trouble getting a room in Brisbane as it is the low season. So you could take a chance and book when you arrive - we were more cautious and booked before we flew. However, the Rugby World cup will be coming to Brisbane this year - so it's best to avoid the World Cup weeks. I'm not sure of the dates but I'm sure a Rugby-fan on this site will be able to fill in the details.

Hope this helps,
AndyH

Don't forget the Gold Coast is only an nour or so from Brisbane by train (and connecting bus) there's ample of accomodation there.

But if you need to be close to the Airport, City with CityCat access then there is the Kingsford at hamilton (only driven past) ... see http://www.budgetaccommodation.com.au/

The Ibis on Turbot Street is good value for money and in the centre.

Cheers for all these.

As we have two pre-schoolers did not want to go too far after the flight, plan is for them to sleep - haha- o.k rest and chill out. As if.....

We plan to torture them and everyone else on the flight and not have a stop over. So beware if you happen to be on the same flight as us.

I appologise in advance.

Oh, I would not book into the same hotel either as they can be sooo noisy!!

Pott.
