On the way back to the UK from Perth, we have to stay one night in Singapore.

Our "direct flight" gets into Singapore at 9.15pm and we fly out again the next morning at 12.40pm.

Can anyone recommend a decent (quiet!!!) hotel in or near the airport? We basically just want to order room service and fall into bed. Fall out of bed the next morning into the shower and go back to the airport.

Also, does anyone know: if we're on a "direct flight" (i.e. officially, this is *not* a stop-over), but because the connecting flight isn't until the next morning, do we get our suitcases when we land in Singapore? Or do we need everything we need for the night in our hand luggage, because the hold luggage has been checked through to Heathrow?

Can't help you with a near airport hotel as we stayed in Singapore city itself but our luggage was checked through from Manchester to Melbourne by Emirates when we overnighted in Singapore on the way out. We just had to worry about our hand luggage. You can however collect your bags if you want and both Singapore terminals have an area where you can pay to have your luggage stored so you don't have to lug it about. I'd ask to have the suitcases checked all the way through from Heathrow and have what you need in the hand luggage for the hotel.

Hi Gina,
When we flew back from Brisbane last year we had to overnight in Tokyo. (We were flying with Japan Airlines). We arrived in Tokyo late afternoon and our connecting flight back to Heathrow wasn't until the next morning. Our luggage was checked straight through from Brisbane to Heathow, so we kept some stuff in an overnight bag.

there was a transit hotel when i went through changi many years ago - it was cheapish, vry popular so im sure it will still be going.

Hi Gina,

Try Holiday Inn ParkView in Orchard Road. Basically, Singapore is small and easy to move around. Board an MRT from Changi to Sommerset.
The hotel is situated somewhere there. It's a happening place. Lots of shopping complex, pubs, restaurants and cafes in the area.
You will like it definitely.
