It certainly isn't as good as it was. There used to be a reasonable level of truth about it, but its sliding downhill now - ignoring basic facts, as you say.

The family in this case was trying to start a public outcry in hopes they would be given an exception, and a journalist pushing a political agenda decided to carry their water.

I'm not totally unsympathetic, but I don't like the air of entitlement that shines through that article. Many families are split by visa rules, often through no fault of their own. In this case at least all the rules and facts would have been clear to see from the outset.

There is very little in the way of a totally free press. At least The Guardian does present another side, away from the usual right wing slant bordering on extreme, if referring to tabloids like Daily Mail or Daily Express.
The Guardian is left leaning....hardly hard core left. I for one, have a number of issues with their columnists.
But saying that The Guardian does not hide behind a pay wall and still provides a quality in news presentation, as does Daily Telegraph (torygraph)

My problem is they keep given oxygen to loony feminist types that think men are the cause of all ills and are authoritarian at heart. It's a major fault with them.

I'd actually say they are centralist, liberal (in the true sense of the word) leaning - maybe slightly social democrat at time. If anything they are greenies.
