Cricketers banned from hitting sixes
By Kate Uebergang
October 27, 2004

PUBLIC safety fears have stumped one of cricket's greatest feats: the six.

Amateur cricketers at two eastern Melbourne suburban grounds will be penalised for hitting a six under a Boroondara Council rule.

The risk of cricket balls hitting bystanders and the likelihood of lawsuits have prompted the change, which is being adopted by more than 100 Eastern Cricket Association teams.

The dead ball rule is to stop cricketers hitting sixes over certain boundaries at Canterbury Sports Ground and Dorothy Laver Reserve East, Glen Iris.

Cricketers will not receive any runs and the ball will not be re-bowled.

If it was the English cricket team batting there l don't think they would have to worry about them hitting any sixes, it would be a miracle if they could hit a four.

Re: Hope

l remember watching the last Ashes series where England was thrashed 5-0,
the English players looked like a bunch of clowns, stumbling , thumbling and crashing into each other, l could'nt stop laughing. During the last test l think some of the English players refused to go back onto the field because they
did'nt want to humiliate themselves anymore. Maybe during the next Ashes series the Australian team should play blindfolded to try and make it an even match. :D : :D :D

Didn't England win the test that everyone thought was going to be Waugh's last one at the SCG? Maybe England should get some fat druggies with mothers to to blame as bowlers.

Indeed and I believe he was in a team that did a clean sweep over the Aussies. Beefie also had half a brain. Maybe Warnie's got flushed away with all those diuretics.

Nah... well really depends how you put it... to me a clean sweep is winning every test and not drawing 1 or 2. So depends how you look at it.

1981 England 3-1 5 tests
82/83 OZ 2-1
85 England 3-1
86/87 England 2-1
89 OZ 4-0 6 tests

Both England and OZ teams were stripped of players throughout this time with the rebels going to play against South Africe
