Thanks for that! We keep swinging from one destination to another. We've used 'tripadvisor' website, and no matter which hotel/destination you put in there's always a bad experience! It's sooo hard, and after the Barbados trip I'm sooo weary re. hotels and service etc.
p.s. artep had a thread talking about childcare etc and mentioned her eldest is not the proud owner of a drumkit...I said she should send him to yours and you could get your own back on your neighbours' dogs!! :D

The beach was stunning and you got beach service - so drinks brought to you. You can choose All inclusive or half board - would definitely recommend going AI as hotels in Mauritius remote and you are all eating and drinking the same food anyway - much nicer to be able to drink/ eat freely without worrying about cost!

Day trip wise - cheapest way and best way is to book a taxi through the hotel - the taxi's are A/C and ask for an English speaking guide. You set a price for the whole day - tell the driver where you want to go and off he go's giving you information as you go -it was absolutely brilliant doing it this way - we went on a submarine to the bottom of the ocean to see the coral reef/ shipwreck (artificial reef).

If you want any more info PM me - we can't wait to go back and will probably have a 2nd honeymoon there.

here's the link and yes it really is as beautiful when you get there!

I would also have to vote for Mauritius. We got married there at the Dinarobin - part of the Beachcomber group. Totally amazing, couldn't fault any of it. www.beachcomber-hotels.com

Absolute luxury and service outstanding. Would go back in a flash.

Hi Logan,

Oh my God, there are sooo many good suggestions on this thread for your honeymoon!!! You will be spoiled for choice now!!!

I reckon Fiji or Maldives looks the best!!! I know when I was checking out wedding/honeymoon locations, the Maldives were'nt too expensive.

As so TripAdvisor - I think the same as someone else has already said - if there's only 1 or 2 bad reviews and loads of good reviews for a particular hotel/resort - then it's probably fine. We checked Tripadvisor out for the resort we got married at in Cuba and there were a few complaints and loads of great reviews as well - and it turned out to be absolutely fab and we found no fault with it.

From memory only 1 of the holiday companies had Navini (may have been Qantas holidays?) because Navini themselves have decided to limit their marketing & wont allow other tour companies to sell their accommodation. But any decent travel agent will be able to book it for you either through the 1 company that does sell it or direct with the resort. I believe that something like 70% of their business comes from personal referrals & repeat business.

Also, dont confuse Navini Island with Naviti Resort (on the mainland), 2 completely different places.

Bula!! :D

I wouldn't book through the hotel direct as would be much more expensive. We booked through a travel agent - Thomas cook signature holidays. If you do a search on net will come up with availability and prices. We paid about 3200 pounds total for all inclusive 2 weeks.

The Dinarobin was on the same stretch of beach as Les Pavillons - Le Morne penninsula - that backdrop was absolutely stunning wasn't it?

The Mauritiuns are beautiful warm friendly people - can't wait to go back.

p.s we got married on 14th June 2003 - 2nd anniversary coming up! From memory and research June/July in Maldives is rainy season and the brochures warned of boat trips/transfers being possibly cancelled due to rough sea's!
I have also been told by friends that have had holidays in Maldives that many islands are overun by 'maldivian palm hamsters'!!!!! (better known to you or I as rats but the hotels call them this as it sounds better  )

Cape Town is fabulous. You could stay a few days in Camps Bay - the Hotel Apostle (which is also a spa) is great and then drive up the Garden Route.

Or you could try the Pankor Laut(Sp?) resort in Malaysia which would be on the way home and is idyllic.

We were booked in to the Maldives for our honeymoon but the Tsunami struck so never go there but we have friends who go every year to a different resort and they love it.

What about Callander, Central Scotland? If it good enough for me and Charlie....

Probably not go to Glasgow for honeymoon, cost just over a £10 on petrol! :D

Ok, I'll give you a real answer, Mauritius or Fiji.

Went to Grenada. Stayed at www.spiceislandbeachresort.com. Fabulous accom, food and on the beach. Everything I could have asked for.

Although, Grenada was hit by a hurricane last year so not sure what state it will be in. Worth a visit to website anyway.

Thanks Lindyloo,
knew I could rely on you to suggest somewhere where you'd only want to wear 3 layers of clothing during the day! An ex of mine's parents had a B&B on Callander highstreet, used to go there a lot. Love the Trossachs etc. Looking at the sky today, we could be there actually! :)

We went to www.orpheus.com.au for our honeymoon, just off the Queensland coast.

It's an amazing place, but it does come at a price! :scared:

When we stayed, there were only 6 guests on the island and at times that got down to 4.

If you feel you want to really spoil yourselves then I highly recommend it.

We've also stayed at http://216.97.11.239/island/index.htm in the Maldives. This is a fairly small island with a limited number of guests so you get privacy. Again highly recommend it.

Have fun searching...... :)

EDIT: There's some pics of our trip to Orpheus here http://britishexpats.com/forum/showt...hlight=orpheus
