can anyone tell me what the average annual holiday entitlement is in OZ?
Also what happens re medical insurance and provisions when you first land?

4 weeks holiday is the normal amount

Go sign up for medicare the day after you land, its in their system already. Its quite spooky, they do the 'we've been expecting you' thing. Their computer system is linked to the immigration one obviously.

After that its free health care if you get a doc who does bulk billing, or if its expensive treatment you have to pay the 'gap' between what the government pays and what it actually costs.

And yeah 4 weeks holiday, and ohh, about 8 to 10 public holidays a year.

You are often not "in the system" for a week to 10 days after you arrive, so I would leave it til then to go & do the Medicare thing.
