Default Holiday property in OZ

Hi

We are considering buying an investment property in Aus. to rent out for a few years and then use ourselves for part of the year.

Does anyone know how long we can stay in the country at any one time if we are on a holiday visa? Are there any benefits for property owners regarding extending our annual stay? Perhaps there is a visa type we should apply for?

Lastly, Melbourne or Brisbane, which is best for investment and which is best for retirement? Each to his own I know but all opinions help!

Thanks

Daisy

You can stay 3 months a year on a holiday visa.

Also as a non resident you can only buy a new build.

Watch out for the dodgy spruikers of new developments. A couple of posters here have been burnt.

Thanks for that. Very interested to see I can only buy a new build, no one told me that before. Is there any way I can check out the developer/builder from home?

Thanks for these, will pass them onto my inlaws as they're interested in buying some sort of holiday property.
