Default Holiday Levvy

You are probably all aware of this but I wasn't when I came here.

Many companies pay a holiday levvy of 17.5% on top of your salary when you actually take your holidays. Mine doesn't kick in for 12 months but hubby got his straight away.

All a bit extra towards spendo. Also, my kids daycare actually give me reduced fees if I give them enough notice which my UK one didn't do.

This is true its on 4 weeks holiday a year and after 15 years with one company you get long service leave , still the sick pay is only 2 weeks a year and my hoildays are at lest 2 weeks a year less than I had in the UK.
Swings and roundabouts.

Yes, 4 weeks seems to be the standard and this is less than I had in UK too. The sick leave thing is a bit of a bugger if you are really ill and need to take time off more than once and we have to produce a doctors note for more than 2 days off, hubby for 1 day off which is really bad!!

I had to take half a day the other week as my son was ill and was prepared to take it as holiday as I would have in Uk but they said to put it a sick time which I thought was good. (as long as I manage to stay healthy myself that is)

My wife who has iffy health ends up having most of her holiday paid out as sick time not good , we both had full pay for upto 6 months a year in sick pay in our UK employment.
