Finally got my laptop back after Tiddler 'borrowing' it because hers died and I have less of a tantrum over lack of laptop than she does

Anyway loads of ideas so thanks all. Hadn't considered America/Hawaii so that's sparked some ideas. Not keen on NZ or Tassie because it'll be mid winter so too cold for us.

Perth would be like Texas, a me only trip. The husband's sister and BiL live there, he'd sooner go to Bali. Now I've got the laptop I can actually search properly.

In our job, we get to read lots of post cards.... there are 3 places that come back with a big wow factor. The first and biggest is always India... Maybe the people that go there are the type of people that are open to new experience.... The 2nd is Mexico, the 3rd Turkey.

In fact I'd love to hear from anyone thats been to India that didn't like it.

Another vote for Hawaii ...you probably know by know that it's my favourite holiday destination.

The husband has refused to visit Turkey since we saw Midnight Express. He wouldn't even take a trip to Northern Cyprus when we were there. Tiddler watched it the other night. She refuses to go there as well

Can't be too busy if you have the time to read other people's mail and read enough to make the assumption that the 3 places mentioned are the best to visit!!!!

I always assumed postcards were read by every person who touched them.

We get them dozens of times a day, everyday. Lots of really obscene stuff, full on Porn from Amsterdam as the front of the postcard. You stick that stuff temporiarly on newbies frames in amongst their personal Photos when they're not looking.

Should see what politicians get on their mail out envelopes as return to senders. Death threats combined with sexual deviancy.... which is basically the only stuff we stop.

One footnote whilst I take the liberty to digress.... If anything smells of perfume strongly we know it's almost certainly there to disguise stuff like Dope.

One other... funniest thing I've ever been witness too, was the time we had a delegation from Japan come through to see how our brand new center worked... as a show piece, When about 80 (about half of the facility) or so posties standing in their frames doing their normal work, all started to make different farmyard noises... From Pigs, Chickens, Roosters, Horses, Cows, Elephants, one Tarzan and a couple of Peacocks. Damn shame Ahmed (the Main man) wasn't with them. Some damn good impersonators out there.

Wonder what the Japanese delegation said when they got back home

My OH went to India, and didn't like it at all- mainly because he spent two weeks with dysentary, so did not get out of his hotel room much.

We are going to Tokyo for 4 days at the end of the year, with our 17 year old. Lots to see and do- wish I had longer, but we have to go to the UK first, so it is an extended stopover on the way back.

While at university the first time around, my friends and I went through a phase of sending random crap in the post. The only rule was, you couldn't wrap it - just stick an address label on it and see if it arrived. I pitied the poor posties. At least the worst thing I sent was a half empty tube of toothpaste (which was still half empty when it arrived - no squishing! Well done, Royal Mail). Some others weren't quite as pleasant.

And back on topic, I vote Malaysia. We did KL and Langkawi a good few years ago now, but I would recommend it.

Yep, kids don't want to go with the folks on holiday until they realise that if they don't they have to pay themselves, then they suddenly want to come along again! By the age of 25 this should stop!!!
