Holiday!
Where to go for a holiday over Christmas and New Year?
I feel a bit greedy/strange asking this question since we already live in a beautiful place(Sunshine Coast) with close proximity to other exotic beautiful places, but a change in scenery and the ability to name drop our holiday destination at social gatherings makes the grass seem greener on the other side.
Was thinking Sydney/Melborune or Whitsundays/PortDouglas, etc, but the hotels seem costly or full, still an option though. We are a couple with no children, don't mind what type of holiday (busy or relaxing). Europe, America, Africa and China are too expensive because of their distance. Anyone out there with Advice?

Re: Holiday!
You won't find anywhere as beautiful as New Zealand's South Island.
Get a campervan if you can - rates will be high but then again so will hotels wherever you go.
You need weeks to see it all properly so pick an area to concentrate on.

Re: Holiday!
Whitsunday's and Port Douglas, or Hamilton Island, should fit the bill very nicely.
Camper van holidays are all well and good but my idea of a holiday means not driving for hours every day or having to empty the WC regularly .
