Default Hold State sponsored visa, now offered company transfer to another state?

I have permanent residence to Australia via a state sponsored visa for Perth, WA. I activated my visa 3 years ago but am currently still in the UK and have therefore 2 years remaining on my permanent residence visa. My company in the UK has now offered the opportunity for me to do a transfer to our office in Sydney. Under normal circumstances they would have to apply for a work permit for me to work in Australia, but as I have permanent residence to WA is this sufficient?

I do not want to get a 4 year work permit and lose the permanent residency but as the permanent residency is state sponsored for Perth and not Sydney can someone advise the best course of action?

Many thanks for any replies, I am sure this must have happened to people in the past and not the first time this has occurred.

Contact the State Sponsorship people in WA and discuss it with them.
