Question hi search for information

hi there nice to meet you all my family and I are off to Perth asap, pending the appropriate visa. Can you recommend things that you have found usefull or any tips relating to Australian life?
My son is 3 and I guess he will start school when we get there? So need info on childcare and education related things. Also I am a nurse and need info on local hospitals and job vacancies in the area.
Will need to know everything as I know nothing. Healthcare etc. We will need to buy a car and either rent or possibly buy a house, would prefer to buy but not sure if we could or not.
Visa is 457 and we are continuing with our permanent skilled visa application also. Thanks any information would be usefull and greatfully received, especially things that you yourself felt 'I wish I had known that'
Looking forward to meeting local people too cant wait to get to oz! I am slightly concerned about the red back spiders though, and the mosquitos, I always get tons of bites when I go away I must be tasty

Hi, I am not in Aus yet, hoping to get the visa within the next couple of weeks. We are hoping to go at the end of Feb, although we haven't yet booked anything. You are obviously going through the stage where all the questions are whirring around your head!! Should we take that little ornament?? etc. It's a journey of emotions, stresses, excitement etc. You will find loads of info on this site, as well as support, shoulders to cry on from people who understand. Keep posting and ask specific questions, so that you can get specific answers.
As for the mosies I have heard Avons Skin So Soft woodland spray is fantastic, the mosies hate it. I have just ordered 4 bottles of it, to take with us!!
Good luck,
Nicky x

Hi Rach,

Good luck with the move and all your research. However, you might find it more useful to search previous posts on the forum or ask more specific questions. It is like asking for tips on living in UK, where do you start ?!!

Redbacks seem to like to be outside in dark places, just get some spider spray and your little boy prob won't start school until he is 5 here. Check out realestate.com.au for houses, Medicare is the state health system here, and there are loads of threads on other things.

Good luck
