Hi All

Well we have been in Perth now for 6 weeks and we have rented a house in Ocean Reef(what a place)still cant beleive we are here, every day i wake up and it is breath taking at what you see here, we live 5 min walk from the indian ocean, and it is the best sea you would ever see.
My daughter who is 10 has setteled very well and the school she attends IS excellent compared to what she had back in the UK. My son who has just turned 17 has been offered an apprentiship in plastering. They have done more here in 6 weeks than what they would have ever done in the UK.
My husband was working within 5 days of being here (he is a bricklayer)Although he found it tottaly diferent to building in the UK ,he has setteled in to work great.
I am a lady of leasure at the moment although there is more than enough work for myself to do.
We have all found Perth to be more than we were ever expecting ,and it is really worth going through all the hastle of agents and CO to get here.

I would just like to say stick at it ,it really is worth it .
PLEASE DONT EVER THINK OF GIVING UP GOODLUCK TO YOU ALL

Hello Terri & Steve, Know what you mean about Ocean Reef, We stayed there with Johns parents for 4 weeks we are now renting in Butler, daughter has started school here and is loving it. Hubby has just started work for a building company doing wall and floor tiling, he has plenty of work with loads more on the way. We hope to get a mortgage sorted soon and get back in the housing market again. We love everything about the place the weather isn't too bad for winter is it? so nice to get down to the beach and not get hypothermia. Love having sundowners in the Mullaloo Tavern beautiful sunsets.
Good Luck to you all :)

A post like this has the same effect on my worries and stress that a blowtorch has on an icecube.

Thanks for the positive post. It's made me all excited again....Can you post something similar in about 24 hours? :)

Hiya Steve & Terri

Its good to hear that you have settled in already. Sounds like you are having a great time.
My OH is a bricklayer also. We are heading to Brisbane and we know the heat will be a bit of a struggle but what other differences have you found from working on site in the UK to Oz. Did you need to obtain a license to start work?

Any insight you could give us would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Jo :)
