Hgv
Hi all,
i have been dying to move to Aus as has my wife and kids .Unfortunately my job is not in sol or any other list. There are plenty of jobs for Chemical Control room ops but you have to have PR. Anyway i hear there is a great demand for HGV drivers,i am toying with the idea of going through an HGV driving course if that would enable us to gain access to our dream.Even if i have to drive for a year or two to gain experience. Feel free to comment on this strategy ,is it a goer or a dead duck in the water. PS. We are both 41 so time is running out. Cheers Arty :) |
Re: Hgv
Even if you have an HGV lisence from UK you still have to pass an Aus HGV Test!!
So don't waste your money on a Test here! IMHO!! Can you not try state or employer sponsored?? Cheers'en. |
Re: Hgv
Hi chopper boy ,
have been advised to forget state sponsorship and there seems to be no takers for my career unless i have PR.What really p****s me off is the fact if i could move over i would get a job right away, Thanks for the input . Cheers mate, Arty. :( |

Cheers Arty :) I don't think that HGV drivers are on the skills shortage list, I've been looking for years! I took a different route and am now living in Perth, but as the previous reply said, the UK HGV licence is not recognised here in Oz and you will need to take a test again. When I arrived I tried to transfer my HGV licence, but they would only allow me to have a MHR or Medium Heavy Ridgid licence, basically a class 3 in the UK. Neil. |

Hubby had ADR and class 1 and forklift etc - but wasn't enough to get us here. I had to retrain to get the points/skills. Trained to be a teacher. Yes - there are driving jobs out here - but money isn't that good unless you are driving a truck in the mining industry (so I have heard). Sarah |
