Default help! where to stay for 6 weeks - Gold coast area

We arrive in Brisbane in a month & will stay first night with a friend . But Ill need accommodation for 2 adults and 5 kids until we find a place to rent. Does anyone know the least expensive way we could live for about 6 weeks until we can rent and our belongings arrive from NZ. Im thinking of the Gold Coast area up to an hour from the coast but will consider anywhere.

Thanks
Graham

Graham, for 6 weeks & that many people why dont you consider a unit in a van park or something? Gives you just a little bit more space than a motel room & at least the kids can go outside & play. Gateway Village are very good, but thats not down the Gold Coast, only on the way down at Rochedale.

Short of that, the only other viable option is probably a holiday rental - there should be heaps of those down the Gold Coast for rent, just email a few estate agents. It will probably cost you though! (not to email, for the rental I mean!)

Maybe others might have more suggestions.

Hi Graham
There are loads of serviced apartments on the gold coast and I am sure you would get a good rate for six weeks as they should not be busy at that time of the year. I think that most of them are only two bedroom though, you should be able to get a three ved though. What about Mrs D's suggestion of the caravan park? Maybe abc could help as I seem to remember he went to a holiday camp sometime ago??
Check this website out:

Good luck.

See you on the Gold Coast.

The one we stayed at, but just for a weekend, was:
http://www.treasureisland.com.au/ratesnew.html

But you are looking at over $1,000 pw, at normal rates, for something that takes 7 people.
http://www.treasureisland.com.au/acccot.html

High season being 26/06/04 to 18/07/04.
Then Low season 19/07/04 to 17/09/04

There must be a cheaper way ? How many bedrooms do you need ?

Im hoping theres a cheaper way. We need either 2 bed with 1 of the rooms with 2 or 3 bunks, or preferably 3 bedrooms. We dont mind if its camp type facilities.

By the way if anyones interested there is someone offering a 3 bed house to rent for 1 year minimum, for $250 p.w at http://www.goldcoastaustralia.com/104473.php. you have to look after their two little dogs though.

Graham, heres Gateway Holiday Village, a couple of people have stayed there when they have got to Brisbane & found it very good, they have a 3 bedroomed cabin, but it seems to sleep 6, not sure if you could get an extra bed? Some motels will do that but I guess its up to the operator.

What would a 3 tier bunk bed cost to buy ? and stick it into a bedroom, of a cheaper place ? If it was allowed ?

Just a thought

This one is at Cleveland, about an hour from the Gold Coast.

2 bed places start at about $550pw, but come down to $300pw for 3 month stays.

Well done Deb, thats the sort of thing I meant, not resorty type letting, more privately owned units & houses so you have a much better choice.

The Ashmore Palms one looks good too, depending on whether 7 people are allowed or not.

Hi graham,

My parents stayed in Cannes Court apartment just between surfers and broadbeach, 2 min from the beach. it definitly was the cheapest deal i found for them and the apartments were clen, quiet and well equipped. there is even a pool and a spa and they stayed there for 4 weeks. the apartment they had was 2 bedrooms. maybe you could take 2 apartments? the kitchen was well equipped too and you can almost walk everywhere. there is a parking space as well. and washing mashine and dryer in the apartment.

their phone number is (07) 5538 1288. they are really nice, husband and wife looking after the place. i cannot find their direct website anymore but please pm me for more info.
I can promise that it was the cheapest deal by far and is central and as well for food shopping and beach activities.
