Default Help wanted: Sat Nav for car

Does anyone know about SatNav systems in Oz?

I have never used an in-car nav fit but think we might splash out when we pick up our pre-ordered car next month.

Examples of questions: is the whole of the island covered? what sort of prices can you get? Do you have to pay extra for the database? What's the best/cheapest?

I have Googled a lot but find very few relevant sites for Oz.

Rog

We have a StreetPilot which we use here in the UK. We've just been looking at the CD's for Oz and you can get a Garmin Metroguide of Australia for around £132.00.

Hope this may be of help.

I've been driving my friends Landcruiser Prado which has SatNav in it. Although I've only driven it in NSW so can't really help you, but it is very good and up to date. Its the first time I've used one and was fascinated with it, kept my hubby busy for a while, now he wants to get one, although I'm sure he just likes the sexy sounding lady that gives the directions!!

Try http://www.navman.com

They're an Aussie company and do maps for the whole of Australia as well as Western Europe.

The Tom Tom GO system sems to be very well reviewed - especially as it's as cheap as any of them. Doesn't look very snazzy but apparently works like the best.
