Default Help.....Suet

I know its too late, but I need to make a christmas pud in a hurry, totally unplanned! And I need suet. Does anyone know if any supermarkets around sydney sell suet? Or the vegetarian variety? I have found a suetless recipe, but not sure it will be the same.

Suet is just the fat from around the kidneys (or some other organ). Atora is made from suet and flour mixed together and is available as an import purcahse from those expensive British food shops - probably costs about $7 or $8.

I know what it is, I need to buy it to make a christmas pudding. it melts at a higher temp than other fats, so you get a better consistancy. Because its kinda gross sounding, you cant always get it when you need it, people are squeamish. The UK is better for things because it is used in lots of traditional cooking

Tandaco prepared suet mix is sold in Woolworths, I think it was by the spices.
MIL made stew and dumplings a few weeks ago, it was just as good as I remembered.

Yep, we have used it too, and although the texture of it is different, does the same job.
