Help with Shipping Quotes
Contacted 6 shipping companies and have received the following quotes for moving a small amount of furniture and belongings from Glasgow to Melbourne
name...............quote......Squ feet.....price per squ foot
white & co........£1795......371...........£4.84
anglo pacific.....£1735.......350............£4.96
britannia..........£1846.......350............£5 .27
gerard group.....£1725.......250............£6.90
doree bonner....£2122.......390............£5.44
PSS................£1413.......239............£5 .91
pickfords..........salesman didn't turn up for appointment
Firstly, can anyone tell me why, when I personally showed each rep the exact same stuff, the quotes on square feet required vary so much. I wonder if it is to make the quote seem small (or am I just being cynical!)
On overall price, PSS wins out, but as soon as I work out the price per square feet it changes to White & Co.
Can anyone advise me how the estimates will change once the actual square feet has been calculated? I can't imagine the costs going up or down on a straight pro rata basis, even though one of the companies mentioned this in their quote.
Any comments appreciated.
