Justo to let you know what I ended up with:
Total cost all in (excludes travel insurance, which I'll probably do via tescos)
was £2,680.
Details are (hope my maths are ok):
Emirates airline
Depart Gatwick (20 mins from my house, which is a blinder) March 22nd at 20.25
Arrive Brisbane 06.25 on 24 March
I think this is total travel time of dead on 24 hours. (Brisbane is GMT+10)
Stops at Dubai and Singapore for a stretch of legs...which I need being 6 feet 4 inches and gives a break for the kids from hours of boredom.
Coming back from Sydney, leaving April 13th at 18.45
Arrive Gatwick 14 April at 12.30
I think total travel time this way is 1 day 3 hrs 45 mins (Sydney is GMT+11)
Stops are at Bangkok and Dubai.......
Bit of a bugger the direct flight from Sydney to Dubai is sold out for my dates.
Anyways, at least I avoid Heathrow, which is at least one hour extra from my house.
