Really need help. Was delighted when I found out I could apply for an STNI visa for Victoria. I am a secondary teacher with a specialism in Food which they have listed as in demand.

I filled in my form and sent if off 2 days aga online.

Just got an e-mail this morning stating:

Thank you for sending us your STNI application form, unfortunately your
skills are not currently listed on our STNI Eligibility List.

I don't know what to do. I have checked the up to date list and my job is definitely on there.

Any advice?

Welcome to the weird world of Victoria.I was turned down twice for stni (I teach early years 3-5 year old,s which is on their list)
The reason I was turned down - never taught 0-2s!!!!
My agent says they're a law onto themselves and there seems to be no rhyme or reason for their decisions!
Are you using an agent. Might be worthwhile getting up early tomorrow morning and giving them a ring.

Thanks Nick, I think I will do that. I have 4 years secondary teaching experience so I really can't see what the problem is. My degree is also totally food so I have the correct qualifications also.

By the way, have you managed to get out to OZ?

Going on sir visa to adelaide - got our co today.So hopefully out there for summer.Was initially gutted, but now realise it was meant to be.It's their loss,as far as I'm concerned.Houses are cheaper,cost of living is cheaper and weather is better. Why not check it out?

Thanks for the advice. I gave them a call last night and they said they would look into it. When i've checked my e-mails this morning they have said they are now considering my application and this will take up to 8 weeks, I guess that is a little more positive.
