Help please... UK Provisional to Australia license?
Hi All,
Newbie here... Moving to Oz (NSW) next month. 28yr old with a UK Provisional license - what license can i get over in NSW?
Have passed UK Theory test only - not passed the UK driving test.
Held the UK Provisional for 13 months...
Help please - can't find clear information on the RMS website.

If you haven't passed your test, aren't you on Ls? Might as well start again if you've not got a licence to drive independently.

You're over 25, so you don't need to do the 120 hours (or whatever it is here at the moment) of logged driving, so get your L licence, book for the hazard perception test and then book your driving test. I would strongly advise having some familiarisation lessons here though, there are some differences between driving regulations in the UK and Australia.
For reference, this is the information you need on the NSW maritime site:
NSW equivalents for overseas driver and rider licences
Driver, current learner Learner driver licence.You may be eligible to take a Hazard Perception Test (HPT) and driving test without being issued a NSW learner licence - call us on 13 22 13 or visit a service centre or registry to discuss your personal situation. A knowledge test may also be required.Don't get confused between the terms - a provisional (P1/P2) licence in Australia is not what you're on - that's someone who has passed their driving licence and can drive unsupervised under certain restrictions. You're just a learner

Better to pass your test in the UK and then swap in Australia if you have time to do so. If not you’ll need to start from scratch on arrival.

Many Thanks all - really appreciate your response and clarity on this issue... I will consider attempting the driving test before leaving the UK....
