NLP (Neuro linguistic programming) and NS (neuro semantics) have been delivering effective phobia cures for 20 years. Some in under 10 minutes. You just have to look on the internet to read about it.
Neuro semantics is cutting edge, and sometimes slated by therapists/counsellors/ hypnotherapists, because they either (IMO) feel threatened or do not fully understand how highly effective neuro semantics is.
In your world you believe that my husbands 99% success rate is "rubbish". This is your opinion only (which you have every right to express) and not based in any way on facts. My husband has many testimonials, and can prove his track record of 99% success.
I fully respect you are entitled to your opinion, and I thank you for giving me the opportunity to respond to you. :)

You won't convince anyone unless you provide evidence.Give us a few references from edited journals which provide evidence of a 99% success rate

The fact that someone has a phobia does not mean they are stupid which is what they would have to be to hand over $250 for a phone consultation.

You first post was a blatant advertisement.

I have been involved in the treatment of phobias for many years but would not advertise on here.

I have exactly the same fear, but I have been unfortunate enough to have seen two huge ones crossing the road(happened to be the one I live in) and I came to a complete standstill and watched it with a morbid fascination, now everyday when I drive past the spot I visualise it, and the fear is still as strong but I'm still here, I too have no desire whatsoever to ever be able to hold a snake and I still have regular nighmares about them, every time I venture out theyr'e in the back of my mind but it doesn't rule my life as much, I just think its something you have to get used to and accept.and the advice that everyone gives that most aren't dangerous, well like you I couldn't give a dam its their repulsive appearance and the way they move that totally freaks me out can't stand them and never will.

Had my first session today... Not quite what I was expecting as I just went into a deep relaxation started off being aware of her voice and then my mind wandering to various other things - was 'under' for longer than I realised!

I've got another session to reinforce this in a couple of weeks so will see how it goes. The aim of the session is to reduce my anxiety (not remove it) so i can deal with a situation fairly rationally if something happens (not start cuddling them).

Not sure whether it has worked yet but might only find out at my first session...

couldnt help but ask this, what are you supposed to do if you see a snake in the road?

My son and I were just discussing this after reading the post - hope you can slow down safely without anybody going up your arse or causing an accident - and try to stay as calm as you can - as at that time, the snake is still not much of a threat to you is it!

Not a nice thought for me is if a Huntsman decided to fall on my lap as I was driving along - now that just doesn't bear thinking about :scared:

well just an update on how things are going
went to see clinical psychologist 3 weeks ago, 100 dollars for an hour, he sat there looking at his watch all the time, kept saying the s word, and told me some horror stories. sorry but not for me.
Last week i went to hypnotist, not sure really what to think, she does not mention the word, and i found it very relaxing. Anyway yesterday i bought the kids some sweets, yes they where ssssssss, i have never done that before. So i will go again, and we will see what happens.

Well I can tell you that if you freeze it's fine as I did just that when a two-metre long thing slid across the road in front of me. I was so surprised that I was past it and away before I remembered to brake.

My wife is terrified of snakes but has found that acting 'brave' in front of the kids to guide them away has helped her overcome the more hysterical displays of her own fears. We've seen maybe four in the year we've been up here by the rainforest.

HELP phobia is getting me down.
Sorry to hear you have this problem, and if you'll excuse the amateur psychology/psychaitry, isn't it possible that snakes aren't the real problem? It's just that they're more prevalent here and it brings out your phobia more acutely?

big.

Maybe something in what you say.
I know the longer i go before seeing one the worse it will be.
The hypnotist does not mention the word. she deals with your fears and anxiety.
I have always had a phobia of them even in UK, but YES its worse here.

I really dont want to go back to UK, but it is on my mind a lot lately because of my fear. Denise

Today I had a red bellied black slither into my empty water feature and then get stuck as the sides were to slippery and steep for the poor thing. My choices were shoot it or rescue it. As it was my first in control first person encounter with a snake and not due to some catastrophe I had a bit of time to ponder the situation and calm down from my initial fright. Also the fact he couldn’t get me due to his predicament helped. So I went to the shed and made a pole with a wire hook on the end then same as you see the mad fish on the telly using to catch snakes with. Came back and after 10 minutes of trying to snag him managed to get him wrapped around the end of my special stick!! The stick was about 1.5m long and he was only a tiddler about 18 inches long. I walked him over to an unused paddock and put him down in the grass where he slithered off to freedom.

Now I know he could have lept at me and bit my ass but it just didn’t seem like he would, He was more scared of me than me of him. This particular encounter has helped me with snakes as they although can kill you ( not the RBB) they are manageable. Unfortunately it has left me wondering exactly where he came from to get in the garden and it has given me a new respect that they are there on my land and I need to be more careful about what I lift and where I walk.

What I think I’m trying to say is when it comes to snankes just keep calm and keep an eye on it so you know where it went, unless it’s a brown of course then run like hell and don’t look back until your safely locked in the house, as they are a bit testy!

If only is was the danger that scared me. This is what people dont realise, its nothing to do with the danger, its the way they look, its horrible. Its the way they move.
I wish i was as brave as you, and that i could handle it the way you did,i envy you that you can do this.
Denise , and thanks for trying to help me.

Hi,

Just thought you should try a spray called Mimulus.

It will help a great deal. I use it for flying and it works with all major phobia´s.

Look it up on the internet..
