I let the agent know that I wasn't interested by phone and followed up by emailing them. I then got a call from said agent to say that they'd passed my details over to the company in any case and they wanted to interview me the next day. To say I was livid is an understatement! Needless to say, I didn't go to the interview. I rather expect that the agent had passed my details over to the company without first showing me the JD and asking for my yay/nay. Either way, they looked ridiculous to the client and lost me.
Job-hunting's all good fun, init?! GG I have even dressed my CV down for some roles, all too depressing at the moment this job hunting lark, plus the area I live in the UK is like something from the dark ages and very "stuck in a rut". B :( |

B :( I do have a fairly specialised field, but it's got so many transferable skills that I should be able to get something in it or a related field, but so far zip. It's very galling and at times I feel like packing the whole thing in. I hope that Aus will be a little bit different, though I have my suspicions it may well not be - Last week I applied for a job through an agent in Melbourne doing exactly what my PhD was about, and I was able to address most if not all of the selection criteria. On the advert it even said "Because this is a highly specialised role, we will accept overseas applications, and visa sponsership is available" I said that I already have a visa, a so won't need sponsoring - has to be a bonus??? - and so far I have heard absolutely nothing in reply. I really hope that this isn't going to be history repeating itself, just in a sunnier location... S |
