Help needed

C'mon help please
Ive tried the approach several days ago.
My two friends are wanting to move to Oz for a few years, here goes, He holds a current valid NZ passport as he is a citizen of NZ, he is no problem as this allows him to live and work in aus but, what does his partner do. They are not married and obviously she wants to go with him as they have been together for 12 yrs.
What does she apply for,
Where does she apply,
Estimated cost

Please help

Go to the top of this page and click at the far left of the line that says Forum/Lifestyle & Culture/Australia/Help Needed (i.e. title of your thread!).. click on the FORUM bit.... it will take you to a page which lists all the forums on the site.... scroll down for the Immigaration/Aus & NZ... click and there you are....

For what it is worth my hubbie is Australian and when we looked at going to NZ, I could apply for a visa for NZ as spouse/partner of an Australian (reciprocal agreement)... don't know if it works the other way around i.e your non NZ friend could apply for a Partner Visa for Australia as the De Facto of a New Zealander.... phew, wordy explanation.. sorry... hope you get my gist!!??

I would have thought this would just be a straightforward de-facto spouse migration. You can find info at:

http://www.immi.gov.au/migration/fam...ponsorinfo.htm

It says that NZ citizens can be sponsors in the spouse category but mentions that they may require additional health and character checks.

I applied under spouse category - but in the US. Main costs are the visa itself and the meds. I think I paid about $1,500US for the lot.
