Hi, I'm brand new here and was given your address from the Go Matilda forum.
I was over in Australia in 2003 on a Working Holiday Visa and worked on Cattle Stations in the Northern Territory. I absolutely loved it and have been trying to find a (legal!) way to get back permanently ever since (so far only managed 2 long holidays and I'm going over again the end of this month).
At the time I worked as a senior pensions administrator and I now work as an administrator for a Transport and Logistics company. I had a short stint training as a hairdresser so that I would have a job on the skills list but unfortunately I seemed to have picked the worst establishment to work at and left to get a "proper" job after 5mths. As I am now 23 it is considered very old to be a hairdressing junior and it was near impossible to find a job and as for surviving on the £80pw wages - totally impossible!!
Anyway, I am digressing!
As I don't have a job on the skills list and am not in a de facto relationship I am struggling. I think I am still young enough (23) to retrain but as what? I'm not too bothered what I do, as I am willing to do almost anything, but I would prefer something that is quick.
I didn't go to uni but would be willing to go it's just that I don't want to spend 4yrs at uni and then have to get another yrs experience which would make me nearly 30 - not that that is old but patience isn't my strong point!
I am eligible for a 2nd WHV due to the fact that I worked for 3mths with livestock on my first WHV. Someone mentioned that you can apply for PR off the back of your 2nd WHV- I can't find anything about this on the DIMA website - does anyone have any more information on this or know where I could find out more? Would this still be for a skilled occupation?
I'm not sure if I have posted this in the right thread. I would appreciate any help at all. Thank you in advance, Jill

As for your immigration quandary, I would seek out some of the agents that hang around these parts. They are really helpful. And you're better off looking in the Australia Immigration thread by the way.

On the station I was a jillaroo (jnr cowboy!) and I was in the stock camp so done all the work that all the others done - mustering, fencing, working the cattle in the yards, camping out in the bush while tailing cattle, going to rodeos, living in quarters, drinking lots of bundy rum! It was quite the experience! The station was over 1million acres and ran over 40,000 head of (very feral!) cattle. I left with a broken/cracked wrist (I think because it was a 2hr drive to hospital and there was still a full days work to do so never got it checked out), serious concussion (a feral horse attacked mine when we were mustering them and I ended up on the deck) and countless other bruises, cuts and goodness knows what else but it was just amazing, out of this world. Being in the NT (Katherine) is like going back in time!
I'll try and track down the immigration thread...not too hot on these sort of sites! Thanks for your help!!

Hello,
I am more or less in the same situation as you, I am 24 and am just about to start my degree in science, then planning to go to oz and update my degree. Would love to do a Masters or PhD.
I am also learning to fly, but i have put that on hold for now.
How it will all end up, I just don't know but I am young still got age on my side so I am just going for it.
Will be working full time in order to save money and will do the degree part-time evenings with the University of London.
I have 6 years work experience from Customer Service to Field Sales Administrator to Senior Accounts Manager, but im not sure if they will be worth anything when the time arrives, but for now it is important to get a qualification, and science for me was the best choice apart from loving science it is a broad subject and has many field that I can choose to specialise
I also have an NVQ level 2 (intermidiate) in IT which i think is useless in terms of immigration.
Regards.

Hi Jill,
Looks like you've already done some research on your. Good on you for that!![Smile](https://britishexpats.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Anyway, if you haven't done it yet, please also check out DIMA's website at www.immi.gov.au and also download Booklet 6, the Bible for skilled migration, at:
http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/booklets/1119.pdf
Although I'm not an expert, but without a job in the skill list, it's extremely difficult to proceed further.
I've seen some members here who took a few years to retrain into a job in the skill list and the got their visas. Since you are very young, it may be a viable option to seriously consider.
Alternatively, you can marry an Australian...![Wink](https://britishexpats.com/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif)
HOWEVER, before you proceed to do anything, it is imperative that you speak with one or even two real migration expert, giving them all your personal information. Only then will you get proper and thorough advise on your individual case.
The good news is that that most migration agents will give you a free initial consultation. By doing so, you will know what your options are immediately and be guided on what steps to take next.
Since you where from the Go Matilda forum, I recommend you speak to or email Alan Collett of Go Matilda. He is well known by BE members and come highly recommended.
Good Luck!

You could also try George Lombard, who is also very experienced and respected.
