Help - Having Panic Attack!

Am I being irrational? Haven't even got visa get and I am having sleepless nights, will I like it, will we be financially Ok, will we get jobs, Is our marriage strong enough (just had 7th anniversary). Since the realisation that it is now "this year" not "next year", I am freaking out a bit. Is this normal???

Totally Normal Emma,

I had the exact same thing even though I really didn't think I would start worrying, when it all become real it does make you panic.

Admitedly I didn't have to look for a job as we bought a business, But we moved to where my hubby is from so he was going to now people and I wouldn't etc etc. I have now been here 2 and a bit months and am loving it, I have my down days and think I blame them on the move but in reality they are probably just normal old PMT.

At the end of the day all you can do is give it a go, if it works it works if not then there really is nothing to stop you going back to the UK.

Nothing anyone says will stop you worrying but just to reasure you it is completely and utterly normal.

Good luck
Kala

I think probably very normal, we have gone through much of the same questions, will it be right for the kids, nearly paid for this house then giving it all up. Must be mad but don't want to be sitting here in my old age thinking 'what if...' We have decided to go enjoy the experience , if we dont like it we can come back but we will have tried it. You will also become very addicted to this site don't know where I will find time to pack when my time comes,
Anyway Good luck try and get some sleep

Why panic attacks? Without visas, you might not even be going, so why worry?

You're right, Laura. Once it all become real, then it gets scary. :scared:

What they don't tell you is, that the only thing worse than waiting to get your visa, it having your visa and then waiting to get on the plane. It's killing me! I just want to go - now, now, now! :(

I can totaly sympathise, we fly out on 17th - 10 days and counting, excited, scared and every other emotion in between. It definitely has been more scary since we have known for sure that we are going. :scared:

We currently have no belongings, sleeping on air beds and having to borrow wooden spoons and pans from neighbours!! All furniture in container sat at Tilbury (was supposed to be on boat on 24th Dec - 200 containers got left behind due to bad weather).

House hopefully will complete on 14th (not exchanged yet though - getting a bit nervous about it), but what the hell, we are off for a new life!! Cant wait, those 10 days cant go quick enough!! Sun, sea, better standard of living, who could wish or more!!! :D

Any one heading for Sydney onor around 17th????

I don't know about anyone else but this is exactly what's happening to my wife and I. Since the TRA came through in Nov, and our agent now tells us we are on the final leg we are in a panic. But personally I think it is a good thing, it has made us ask some searching questions of ourselves and hopefully it will clear some of the ‘rose tint’ that I guess we all go through. I have found this forum of great help. We are posting some specific questions now which is helping us.

I hope you get over your panic attacks, when we do I will let you know.!!

Hi Laura,

We don't fly out until Feb 13 - it will be five weeks on Sunday, so I think you're off before us? We've just got our temp place sorted. We're shipping with PSS on Jan 31, so will be living B&B in a pub weekdays from then until we go and speding weekends with the in-laws. (That part, I could really do without!) Still, minor hassle in the grand scheme. Provided we don't kill each other! Worst thing is, because we're travelling for the best part of four weeks to get to Sydney, we have to take everything we need for the journey etc with us to and from the pub/in-laws. Bit of a logistical nightmare, as we won't have our car by the end, either.

Anyway, you're getting there! Keep at it and don't let their guilt trip attempts get to you. Stay chilled with a  ;)

Cazzamack - we land in Sydney on Mar 13 (or is it Mar14? I forget ...).

Re: Help - Having Panic Attack!

Know what you mean about the worries and panics. We got our visa end of Nov and so started telling more of the family about our plans. Telling people makes it exciting but also seems to make it even more real. I could do with a list with the answers marked against it for me to work though, for example
1. what to do with house - sell or rent
2. Where on Sunshine Coast or Brisbane to live
3. what do we need to do to sort out our finances, i.e. pensions, tax implications, etc
4. which removal company
5. who will buy the car
6. what things do we take
etc, etc....

Anyone got the answers?

Like you click69, I've been searching this brilliant forum to help get some answers to these and many other questions that I have. Everyone is so helpful. Am completely addicted to this site and like other posters I am having sleepless nights but part of the reason is cos I'm up til all hours surfing round the forum.

my problems now seem somewhat small compaired to yours...
What a nightmare about the B&B etc.....

Well we have rented ours out, as sales not good where i am, in order to get it all decorated and ready fro the tennants, we need to move out so moving out today and tomorrow and painting and repairing all day sunday, to hand over keys on Monday.

We have also had to borrow knifes, folks and plates as we had nothing to eat off as all packed up. I have tried to sell all my furniture but still have my sofa and dining table and few other bits, God knows where i will end up putting them tomorrow tho, wish i had of taken EVERYTHING now as stuff is so hard to sell, and you end up having to give it away just to get rid of......also lots of people have bought things andare "paying us later",so ihope this doesnt endin disatser???

Good luck anyways
it will be worth it in the end.....
