Default Help with Freemantle.

Hi

Hoping to be moving over to Perth towards the end of the year if the postal service can get itself into order and deliver our documents.
I have been thinking about Freemantle. We liked the look of the town but have no idea where the nearest beaches are.
Can anyone give us any tips on life in Freemantle and particular areas that may be good?

Just a quick tip: Like you I used to think it was "Freemantle" (with two ee), but it's "Fremantle" (with one e). The locals call it "Freo" for short.

Fremantle has beach's - South Beach, Port Beach and another one north, actually it is one long beach all the way north!

Freo has a very cosmopolitan feel to it (well for an Aussie anyway) a large Italian community who basically made it what it is today with the fish markets etc. Very expensive housing, but depends on what you are after. It is nice though.
