Default help on emigrating!!

We are a family of four and are seriously looking into emigrating to Sydney. Would love to hear from a family who has made the big break to Sydney. How did it work out. Did the kids settle down well. We have a son who will be leaving school in June and a daughter aged 8. Our main concern is my husband getting a job out there (he is currently a senior manager for Royal Mail). Its a good job and quite well paid - can anyone give information on how easy or difficult it is to find work in Sydney. I too would like to work (am currently an audio secretary). We have thought of using an agency to help my husband get a job - can anyone recommend one?

Any information on the whole process of emigrating would be greatly appreciated.

cheers and thanks

Hi,

you might want to post on the immi site within this group as there are many who would be willing to help, the migration process seems to taking about 2 years to process, this is the big problem,

have you looked at the gov immi site, all details there on points and oc's needed to qualify,

Sydney is a very expensive place to buy and rent a property, most ex pats are heading towards Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide, you may consider these as an option,

best of luck,

Download the skilled independant booklet from www.immi.gov.au (free) and do the points test. If you have a skills assessment on your husbands skills as a senior manager you will need to apply to the Australian Institute of Management (AIM) to get the 60 points.
Link: http://www.aim.com.au/migration/index.htm

Getting a job without a visa for something unspecialised as a Senior Manager, is next to impossible unless you have a good nextwork, or overseas office.

This assumes you have no family out there etc.

Read and post on the other forum for immigtation info, some helpful agent contribute and you can consult them professionally too if you want.
Feel free to continue to ask avbout living/lifestyle on this, some here are in Sydney, not many planning to go there thouhg..

Good luck on the long journey.
Cheers
